Amishville (July 2007)
A long weekend ride to check up on a Black Hawk war scare story south of Fort Wayne wouldn’t have left much time to visit the sites, much less do research in the local libraries. So instead, we drove to Amishville USA near Geneva and camped there for a few day. From there I rode to places associated with the life of Allen Norcross, finding them with the help of information in the Wells County library in Bluffton. There were also a couple of long rides, one along treaty boundaries in Randolph County, and one to an edge of the Virginia Military Tract in Ohio.
This kind of outing worked out so well that we did several more like it over the next few years.
