This is the last photo I took on my ride tonight. This was south of Bloomingdale in Parke County, Indiana.
We’re not sure if the place we’re staying at (in Rockville) is a bed and breakfast or a motel — maybe a combination of the two. We checked in, had a fast food dinner, and then there was still enough daylight for a starter ride.
I don’t know how many miles, though — DeLorme Street Atlas says 18. My cycle computer seems to have died. It gave some signs of doing that on another ride recently. This time I couldn’t revive it. It’s probably just the pulse generating unit, but for practical purposes I probably need to buy a whole new unit. And Rockville is too small to have a bike shop, it seems. So maybe I can get one in Terre Haute on my way to Maria Creek.
There is a big covered bridge festival that starts this coming weekend. We’ll be gone by then. Maybe that is going to be our speciality. Last month we were in Rochester just before the big Trail of Courage weekend, and gone before the crowds arrived.
